Before renting a vehicle

WHAT DO I NEED TO RENT A VEHICLE?

Cars: You need to be a minimum of 21 years old, have had a driver's license for at least 2 years, a passport or ID card, and a credit card or cash to pay the deposit. To rent a car in Spain you have to have a valid driving license.

Motorcycles: Be at least 18 years old, have your passport or ID, a credit card or cash to pay the deposit and your driver's license. To rent a bike in Spain you need to have a valid driving license.

Bicycles: Passport or ID, credit card or cash to pay the deposit.

HOW DO I MAKE THE BOOKING ONLINE?
  • Enter the dates, times and offices for collection and return of the vehicle in the form on our home page and click on the SEARCH button.
  • Select the type of car you want to rent.
  • Include any additional accessories and extras in your booking.
  • Select the payment form and enter your personal details to finish the booking.
WHAT CONDITIONS DOES THE RESERVATION HAVE?

The reservation allows for modifications and cancellations with no penalty if you notify us within 48 hours of the collection date. You will be charged one day's rental with no discount if you give less than 48 hours’ notice.

WHAT TYPES OF INSURANCE ARE AVAILABLE?

All our vehicles come with the compulsory cover with excess. This is the default cover option and is free, but you'll need to leave a deposit equal to the value of the excess for the type of vehicle you choose. If you return the vehicle in the same condition as you picked it up, the deposit will be refunded. In the event of damage to the vehicle, a sum up to the full value of the excess will be charged.

In the event of an accident that was not your fault, but that of a third party, a sum up to the full value of the excess will still be charged. However, when the insurance company has determined that it was not your responsibility, we will return that amount to you.

La Savina Car Motos S. L offers the client full comprehensive insurance on the rented vehicle for damage caused by collision. This insurance does not cover damage to wheels, low parts of the vehicle, loss of keys, breakages or damage inside the vehicle or to accessories belonging to or delivered with the vehicle. Those driving under the effects of alcohol or drugs are not covered. The same applies to driving recklessly (see conditions).

WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THE INSURANCE?

Loss, theft or damage to keys, triangles and/or vests
Damage to the underparts or roof of the car
Damage to the axle or tyres
Crane cost if driver's fault
Damage to the radio/cd player
Using the wrong kind of fuel
Damage to upholstery or extreme dirt
Tyre damage and/or punctures
Theft or loss of parts of the car
Misuse of the clutch
Negligent driving and/or serious or very serious infringements
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Breach of contract (e.g. failing to submit a detailed report in the event of an accident)

WHAT IS THE POLICY REGARDING FUEL?

FULL - FULL. You must fill up the tank to the same level as it was when you rented the vehicle or the difference will be charged when returning the vehicle, plus an admin fee of €20.

DO I NEED TO RESERVE A SEAT FOR MY CHILD? WHAT TYPE OF SEATS DO YOU HAVE? DO I HAVE TO PAY?

We have seats for babies and children as follows: Group 0+ (0-13 kg), Group 1 (9-18 kg) and Group 3 (15-36 kg). The extra charge is € 3/day.

CAN I LEAVE THE ISLAND OF FORMENTERA WITH THE VEHICLE?

The vehicle may not leave the island. Such circumstances automatically cancel the insurance, and result in the loss of all moneys paid and the cancellation of your contract.

IS THERE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR NEW DRIVERS?

A new driver is one between 21 and 25 years of age or having had a driving license for less than 6 years.

Cars: if the driver belongs to the category of 'new driver' the car rental will cost an additional €10 per day.

Motorbikes: motorbikes have no additional charge for new riders.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO BIKES AND QUADS COME WITH?

Motorcycles and quads come with helmets and padlocks included. The bikes don't have a trunk, only the scooters have compartments under the saddle with space for a helmet. The Piaggio Medley and Piaggio Beverly scooters have space for 2 helmets.

 

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS ARE AVAILABLE TO ME?

To make your reservation online you can make the payment by credit or debit card (VISA or MASTERCARD) or by bank transfer. Once you get to the office you can pay the deposit in cash, or by credit or debit card (VISA or MASTERCARD).

HOW DO I GET AN INVOICE?

You can ask for an invoice at the end of the rental period at the office or send an email to info@lasavinarentacar.com.com with the billing details and contract number. The invoice will be e-mailed to you.

THE CAR COMES WITH ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE

La Savina Car Motos S. L offers roadside assistance from 9: 00 am - 19: 30 pm, which you can use by calling the phone number given in the contract.

CAN A PERSON OTHER THAN THE DRIVER MAKE A RESERVATION?

When booking the vehicle, the data provided must be from the driver.

During the rental of a vehicle

WHY MUST I INSTALL THE EXTRAS MYSELF?

Installation of additional accessories (e.g. baby chair) is to be done by the person renting the vehicle. This is required by our insurance policy, because in the event of any incident occurring as a result of incorrect installation of accessories, the company will not then liable for any damage caused.

DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE LOSS OF HELMETS OR KEYS?

In the event of loss, helmets cost 30 euros. Loss of motorcycle KEYS: 30-200 euros, depending on the model and for cars between 100-400 euros, depending on the model.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO NOT TURN UP AND DO NOT GET IN TOUCH?

If you do not turn up to pick up the vehicle on the indicated date and do not notify the company, you will lose the booking and the full sum.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET A FINE DURING THE RENTAL?

In the event of a traffic fine you incur during the rental period, La Savina Cars Motos, S. L. is required by law to identify you and provide the authorities with your personal data, so that you will receive the penalty to be paid at your home.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DO NOT RETURN THE VEHICLE ON TIME?

The customer undertakes to return the vehicle on the date indicated in the contract. Any accident occurring after the rental period will not be covered by fully comprehensive insurance and you will be charged for the excess. La Savina Car Motos S. L gives a courtesy time of 1 hour to return the vehicle free of charge, after that you will be charged 1 day's rental.

I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY BOOKING CONFIRMATION, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

While making your reservation you will get your confirmation bonus and locator number. You will also receive it at the email address you provide. If you do not receive our e-mail, first check that you have written your email address correctly, and if so the email will most likely have been blocked by the anti-spam filter in your account. Check that our e-mail is not in your "junk mail" or "spam" folder. If our email is in your spam folder, be sure to set up your account so that it does not block emails from "lasavinarentacar.com" or info@lasavinarentacar.com. If our email is not in your spam folder, write to us as soon as possible at info@lasavinarentacar.com and we'll send it to you or call us on +34 971 34 33 20.

Returning the vehicle

¿CUÁNTO TARDA EN DEVOLVER EL DEPÓSITO DEL ALQUILER?

Pre autorización: ten en cuenta que esta cantidad no está cobrada, solo se pide al banco que la bloquee durante la duración de tu alquiler, una vez finalizado este, se libera automáticamente, esto no genera movimiento de cobro o abono en tu cuenta.

Depósito: El abono lo realizamos de manera automática tras devolver el vehículo, el reintegro en el saldo de tu tarjeta depende de la entidad bancaria, puede tardar entre 7 y 15 días.

Efectivo: Los depósitos en efectivo se devuelven directamente en la oficina de devolución al finalizar el alquiler.

Recuerda que este importe siempre se desbloquea en la cuenta asociada a la tarjeta de crédito con la que hayas efectuado el depósito.
